As chair of Cheltenham Interfaith I’d like to welcome you to our web site.
The Inter Faith Network exists to promote understanding, cooperation and good relations between organisations and persons of different faiths in the UK. Here in Cheltenham we work with people of all faiths and no faith to promote mutual understanding and awareness of different belief systems. We do this through speakers, events and dialogue so that by getting to know one another we recognise that we have far more in common than may appear at first sight.
My personal commitment to interfaith comes from my parents’ experiences in the Second World War where as Polish Jews they saw many of their family members murdered for who they were. Today we see nationalistic beliefs re-emerging and demonising people for who they are and not what they do. I firmly believe that by promoting dialogue between people of different faiths and cultures we breakdown barriers and come to embrace diversity rather than feel threatened by it.
We generally hold meetings once a month with internal and external speakers and we sometimes ask people to bring food along to share.
Please come along and I look forward to welcoming you. You can find our programme of events on this website
